US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to Discuss Supply Chains, Infrastructure at Supply Chain Outlook Event

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will deliver a keynote address and share insights in a Q&A during Industry Dive’s Supply Chain Outlook event on July 24.

Hosted by Supply Chain Dive, Trucking Dive and Manufacturing Dive, Supply Chain Outlook: Trends and Risks To Watch in 2024 is a free virtual event delving into several hot-button issues for executives, including:

  • How the economy is faring and what it means for supply chains
  • Analysts' projections for consumer demand and other key metrics
  • How AI is being leveraged to stay ahead
  • Top logistics risks likely to prevail throughout the year
  • Pricing and capacity trends across transportation modes

After his opening remarks, Buttigieg will join Trucking Dive Senior Reporter Colin Campbell for a 35-minute fireside chat about trucking, supply chains, infrastructure upgrades, the Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) program and more.

“Building supply chain resilience is a top priority for most executives today, including those in the Biden administration. Our event is a forum for industry leaders to weigh in on the leading issues affecting supply chains, and share their assessments on the risks ahead,” said Edwin Lopez, Managing Editor, Industry Dive.

Buttigieg assumed his role in early 2021, as COVID-19 lockdowns across the globe spurred massive supply chain disruptions. Buttigieg has overseen the delivery of emergency relief funds to local and state agencies, reduced container congestion at ports, and managed catastrophes like the Baltimore bridge collapse in March.

The DOT also focused on mobilizing investments into U.S. transportation infrastructure provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that went into effect in 2021. Three years later and now in a presidential election year, Secretary Buttigieg is leading the charge on funding grants for supply chain assets across the nation.

In addition to the keynote and fireside chat, the Supply Chain Outlook event will host four other panels featuring experts from ITS Logistics, the Institute for Supply Management, Michigan State University, Johnson & Johnson, Nestlé Purina, Huntington National Bank, DHL Global Forwarding and Logistics Trends & Insights.
