MedTech Dive cited in congressional request to HHS over ventilator contracts
As a House of Representatives subcommittee seeks answers from the Department of Health and Human Services on its recent cancellation of ventilator contracts - it used a MedTech Dive story to back up its case.
In a story published today, MedTech Dive Senior Editor Greg Slabodkin describes how House Oversight Committee's Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy chair, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill. wrote HHS Secretary Alex Azar for documents showing the total amounts paid to three manufacturers under their now-terminated contracts, including any payments that might reflect a termination settlement.
In this letter, Krishnamoorthi used Slabodkins Sept. 2 story on HHS canceling two contracts with medtech companies Hamilton and Vyaire earlier than planned because of an adequate supply of the breathing machines in the Strategic National Stockpile.
Slabodkin will continue to track the issue closely. To keep up with the latest development - and read the same stories the lawmakers read - sign up for a free subscription to MedTech Dive here .
