Industry Dive's Editor-in-Chief Named President of American Society of Business Publication Editors

Industry Dive's Editor-in-Chief Davide Savenije has been named the new President of the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). As the only organization dedicated to representing the business-to-business (B2B) editorial community, his appointment reflects his steadfast dedication to the industry and elevating its renowned standards.

"I'm excited to build on the progress that ASBPE has been making," said Savenije. "Media is changing quickly, and ASBPE's role is to help people adapt and advance the profession. We aim to connect people, build community, provide recognition for excellence, and offer educational opportunities and thought leadership on important and timely topics."

Savenije's B2B journalism career began after graduating from Dartmouth College with an English degree in 2012. He joined Industry Dive shortly after, starting as an editorial intern when it was a fledgling startup with only six team members and five publications. Savenije focused his efforts on shaping Industry Dive's editorial vision, with an underlying belief that B2B media could be as compelling as mainstream publications.

Savenije rose through the ranks as Industry Dive grew. By the time he became Editor-in-Chief in 2017, Industry Dive encompassed 15 business publications and a team of 40. Today, Savenije oversees 37 publications with a team of 130 business journalists that has won many awards for their work, including ASBPE's Website of the Year and the Neal Award for Best Industry Coverage (four times).

Savenije's involvement with ASBPE began as a way to hone his skills and broaden his network in the close-knit B2B journalism community. He joined the national board in November 2021, was elected Vice President in May 2023, and stepped into the role of President last month during ASBPE's National Conference.

His goals and priorities as President include: 

  • Growing ASBPE's membership and community
  • Building out a more robust and compelling webinar program
  • Writing a new advice column called Ask ASBPE
  • Organizing local networking events
  • Modernizing and updating the Azbee Awards
  • Building bridges with academic institutions and journalism students to raise awareness of B2B media as a career path

"I want to raise awareness of B2B media as a career path and a sustainable place to work and grow as a journalist," Savenije said in a recent interview with ASBPE Vice President Brooke Bilyj.
